Rarely do professional massage therapists open up about the sometimes serious side effects that massage can have. It’s time I opened up about the dark side of massage and let you know about some of its most serious side effects so you can be on the lookout for them. After all, knowledge is power.
Side Effects of Massage
Increased sense of relaxation – This is especially dangerous for type A personalities.
Decreased feeling of stress – Control freaks don’t handle this one well at all
Increased sense of well-being – Martyrs beware, this could happen to you
Decreased anxiety – Bad news if you’re a worry wart
Increased flexibility – Especially troublesome to those who are used to bending over backwards for others all the time
Decreased muscle tension – The bane of uptight people everywhere
Increased quality of sleep – Oh, this is totally against everything the hypochondriac stands (or maybe I should say, lies down dramatically) for
Decreased pain – This will totally mess with the tough guy or gal in an ugly way
Increased mental clarity(this one is tricky because you don’t notice it until after the massage coma wears off) – Slackers beware. You might actually get some work done if mental clarity happens to you.
Increased range of motion – This does not mix well with rigid personalities
